School enrollment reports on persons actively enrolled in an educational institution at the time of the survey. On this page, the following grade levels are used:

  • Preschool: anything before kindergarten, typically anything between ages 2 and 4
  • Kindergarten: the year before first grade, typically around age 5

  • Undergraduate: in this context, it means and two or four year college, but excluding any graduate education

  • Private School: owned and operated by a private organization, often but not always with a religious affiliation
